What is a self-propelling wheelchair?

A self-propelled or manual wheelchair is a wheelchair with larger wheels that are reachable while occupying the seat. These larger wheels have a handrail next to the tyres, which can be used by the occupant to turn the wheels. How to use a Self-propelled wheelchair

Manual wheelchairs are easy to use but do require enough upper body strength to move the wheels. While seated in the chair, you can reach down to the sides of the seat and grasp the handrails on the wheels – these should be easy to reach in a self-propelled wheelchair. You can then rotate the wheels forwards, or backwards, to move yourself around.
