When it comes to spending time with your grandkids, it can seem like a challenge to think of things to do and places to visit that are accessible for you but will also keep the kids entertained.

The summer holidays are just around the corner, and with many grandparents having the delight of being roped into childcare, Fenetic Wellbeing has found some accessible activities in Yorkshire that are perfect for making memories with your grandkids.

Yorkshire has lots of wheelchair-accessible activities that grandparents and grandkids can enjoy together during the summer. From exploring national parks and wildlife centres to learning more about Yorkshire’s rich heritage at historic sites and museums, Yorkshire has attractions to cater for all interests and ages.

We’ve rounded up some accessible activities to do with the Grandkids this summer – come rain or shine these days out are bound to be hit.

 

Wheelchair-friendly outdoor adventures in Yorkshire

If the weather is looking nice and you want to make the most of it, both the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors offer accessible trails, picnic spots and stunning views of the surrounding countryside.

Yorkshire Dales: In the Yorkshire Dales, Malham Cove and Aysgarth Falls are two spots that are particularly wheelchair friendly. There are wheelchair-friendly routes to follow and plenty of space for the kids to run around, so you and the family can enjoy a few hours out in the fresh air.

North York Moors: Similarly, North York Moors is a great spot for nature lovers and adventure seekers to visit this Summer. Some of the best spots include Dalby Forest and parts of the Cleveland Way, both of which have accessible paths for you and the grandkids to explore.

Yorkshire Sculpture Park: The Yorkshire sculpture showcases a collection of sculptures set against views of the Yorkshire countryside. The park has wide and smooth pathways, making it easy to navigate in a wheelchair.
