For those of you who don’t know or were unable to attend, we recently invited a selection of bloggers and customers through our Facebook page to Harrogate to take part in the first ever Fenetic Wellbeing #WalkforWellbeing event.
#WalkforWellbeing is an initiative we came up with to encourage people of all ages not only to get out and exercise, but to experience the great outdoors and the benefits it can have on our overall wellbeing.
The day began at Betty’s Cafe Tea Rooms in Harrogate where it was complimentary tea and Halloween cakes and a quick natter with Tom about what #WalkforWellbeing is all about.
In typical Yorkshire fashion it was also the perfect opportunity to have a good old moan about the weather, which started off less than desirable but was not going to put a dampener on the day.
One of our bloggers, Clare who attended the event, summed it up perfectly with a quote from Ranulph Fiennes himself. “There is no bad weather, only inappropriate clothing.” Luckily we had our Fenetic Wellbeing umbrellas on hand to keep us dry.
From there it was onwards for a tour of the glorious RHS Harlow Carr Gardens in all of their autumn splendour, with special thanks to our guides who both informed and entertained as we made our way around.
The adults of the group made time to take in the beautiful plants and trees, while the kids were more concerned with the promise of stone lion statues and the impressive willow BFG!
After the tour the guests were free to explore and have their own adventure, which is part of what #WalkforWellbeing is all about.
To quote one of our attendee bloggers who came along with the whole family:
“We will definitely visit Harlow Carr again, I think it would be a fantastic day out all year round, we couldn’t believe we’d been there for over 4 hours, I’m glad I’d packed a picnic!”
It just goes to show the value that can come from the simple act of stepping outside (no matter what the weather) and experiencing something new.
We all know the benefits that come from regular exercise, but we sometimes fail to see how it is the smaller things that really contribute to leading happy and healthy life.
With that, we want to give a huge thanks to everyone that helped to make our first #WalkforWellbeing a positive experience and one we would certainly love to do again soon.
