The easiest way to buy a mobility scooter online is to think about what you’re going to use it for. Each user has different needs for their mobility scooter, from simple trips to the shop to longer distance journeys that require a hard wearing model.
A mobility scooter is a 4 wheeled electric scooter that’s used for more long distance journeys that can’t be achieved in a wheelchair. There are multiple different types of mobility scooter available and each type is beneficial for different users depending on their specific needs.
We’ve arranged ours into three categories, based on the most popular uses for each type of scooter.
Portable mobility scooters are lightweight and can easily fold and store in the boot of a car. They’re easily transportable making them ideal for use on days out, with a maximum range of 10 miles.
Mid-range mobility scooters have been designed with a larger battery and suspension to smooth out bumps with ease. They cover longer distances than portable mobility scooters and are ideal for use when public transport might not be available.
A road legal mobility scooter is generally the largest and most comfortable of all mobility scooters and complies with all legislation for legal use on the road. They’re generally able to cover longer distances with a maximum range of between 20 and 30 miles.
There are heavy duty wheelchairs available which have a weight capacity of around 25 stone (156kg). They come fitted with full suspension and larger tyres, this makes them incredibly comfortable and capable of reaching long distances.
