What are the best stress relieving chairs?

After a long day there’s nothing better than unwinding in the comfort of your own home. Why not kit out your home with stress-relieving chairs.

After a long day there’s nothing better than unwinding in the comfort of your own home. And if you want to make the most of your down time, you should really consider kitting out your home with stress-relieving chairs, designed with the ultimate relaxation in mind. But which are the best?...

Heat and massage chairs

If the thought of a daily massage appeals, but paying for one doesn’t, a heat and massage chair could be just the ticket. Take a seat, push the button, and you’ll feel like you’ve booked into your own personal spa session, in your own lounge. If you suffer from persistent back pain, circulation problems, or any other mobility problem, there’s no doubt that this piece of furniture will provide some welcome relief. You’ll find yourself looking forward to sitting in your chair all day long (although we do recommend getting up and having a walk occasionally!).

There are lots of different versions to choose from, so you can pick a style that suits you and your living room décor. Leather, faux leather and fabric are available in a huge variety of different colours, patterns and designs. If you’re short of space, you can even pick a compact model, which reclines back even when placed close to a wall. Some are kitted out with handy storage pockets, which is ideal if you want somewhere to keep a book or the remote control, so you can hide it away in here and save it for later.

Riser recliners

Riser recliners are another way to relieve stress in your home. They provide a comfortable place to sit and put your feet up, and with a touch of a button you’ll be able to discover your perfect seating position. When you’re ready to get up again, you can let your riser recliner do all the hard work; they lift and tilt to help you stand up.

As well as helping you unwind, riser recliner chairs can also reduce the pressure in your neck, back and joints. If you suffer from aches and pains, this supportive seat will become your go-to relaxation spot when you need some relief. And even if you don’t have a mobility problem, a riser recliner still makes a relaxing addition to any living room.

Remember – there’s no need to worry about getting in a tricky position in the event of a power cut. A back-up battery is included, so you’ll still be able to get up.

Recliners

Another way to stay in control of your comfort is choosing a straightforward recliner chair. Simply settle in as you would with any armchair, recline completely flat or into a laid-back position and have a little snooze if you like. It’s easy to wind away an entire afternoon when you take a seat in a recliner, especially if you have poor posture, weak knees, or you suffer from swelling in your feet.

Depending on your needs and budget, you can take your pick from three different types of recliner chair. Single-motor means the back and footrest move simultaneously, so when you recline back, your feet also rise. Go for a dual-motor riser recliner and you’ll enjoy a wider range of movement; two motors run independently, so you can move the back and footrest separately and find your perfect position. Alternatively, you could keep it simple and go for a manual recliner, which comes with a hand lever; you won’t need to worry about plugging it in.

And finally...

Your home is for living in, and we all know how easy it is to accumulate clutter (especially when the family comes over). But when your rooms are messy, it can make the place feel stressful, so if you want to experience total stress free relaxation when you take a seat in your comfy chair, it really helps if your surroundings are spick and span, too.
